In a futuristic world where criminal intent is analyzed by the Sybil System, a new top of the class recruit, Akane Tsunemori, joins the police force; however, she always puts her own sense of justice above the judgment of Sybil. Police are helped by Enforcers (latent criminals disposed to high criminal intent), one of which is a former inspector who supports Akane's method of action. Believing in humanity and order, policewoman Akane Tsunemori obeys the ruling, computerized, precognitive Sibyl System. But when she faces a criminal mastermind who can elude this "perfect" system, she questions both Sibyl and herself. I've been doing a marathon for this series for the last couple of days and I had to take a pause for a second and write a review.<br/><br/>The Animation, the writing, the voice acting (ok, for Japanese version) are all top notch. Production IG, the animation studio that made this, is at the top of their game, and I knew them from watching Ghost in the Shell: Stand alone complex (I highly recommend as well). The writing is superb if not genius, and before I knew it, I was attached to all the characters (on both sides). Although the main theme have been done to death (future worlds where AI's run things and judge us, and so on) the show definitely made it feel fresh and had me diving in episode after episode. I'm actually on episode 19.. I can't express how excited I am finishing this! <br/><br/>Watch it! Truly an all encompassing show, which takes on many elements from Orwell's 1984, Huxley's Brave New World, and is self aware of itself doing such through its thought-provoking and reflective dialogue. It discusses themes from many novels and philosophical works, in a very classy and clever style. The characters are wonderfully developed, both protagonists and antagonists, such in a way that you are left wondering who the real bad guy is.You truly develop an emotional connection to all of the characters, which I would suggest NOT doing unless you want to shudder on the ground and cry a river of tears. The electro post-rock-esque soundtrack is also epic, and will intensify all the emotion shown in this show, if the characters and lines were not enough. The plot is complicated at times, and many random names seem to be thrown around a lot. I would suggest taking a pen and paper when the detectives are doing detective work to help yourself keep up with the complexity. This anime is no time-waster, it opens your mind and broadens your horizons if you pay close attention to the meaning in the lines.
